A functional prototype for COVID-19 | Social Disconnectedness

What's the biggest elephant in the room during quarantine? It's the void that we try to fill with social media, catching up on the latest Netflix shows, or finally getting to that endless list of to-dos... it's loneliness. We have created a functional prototype for life in quarantine that highlights this habit that we have created for ourselves. Think of how many times you pick up your phone during the day or reach for it, only to find out it's ghost vibrations. We always feel as though something or someone is calling out to us. But what do you see when you pick up your phone and find that there was no one there? Just your reflection.

Understanding the effects of COVID-19 in Kabukicho, Japan.

This is a photo taken yesterday, May 25, 2020 in Kabukicho, Japan. The stay-at-home order for Japan was lifted earlier than originally anticipated because of the positive steps they have taken towards flattening coronavirus curve. Though businesses are slowly re-opening, most of the population is cautiously optimistic... just like the rest of the world. We are starting to reach out to locals to see if we can gain a better perspective of their everyday lives during this pandemic.

A look into the rules and regulations of Kabukicho.

Through researching the policies and procedures in Kabukicho, we found that a common form of communication from the Metropolitan Police Department are illustrated posters. These posters inform locals and visitors of potential scenarios found in Kabukicho and are the police department's way of keeping people safe.
